The delegation of the U.S. Air Force Academy visited National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, on March 25th. The visiting guests engaged in a cultural and scientific exchange from 9 am to 11:40 am with professors and students from the College of Engineering, College of Science and College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. They exchanged research experiences on the fields of physics, aviation and space, leaving an excellent impression of the outstanding learning environment and research achievements in NCKU.

Dr. Chio-Zong Cheng, Professor of Institute of Space, Astrophysical and Plasma Sciences in NCKU, believed a more intimate cooperative relationship between NCKU and the U.S. Air Force Academy will be beneficial to the development of satellite technology. After satellite launches, its data need analysis and scientific work. National Cheng Kung University can offer professional assistance on these matters.

Prof. Joseph J.F. Liu of the U.S. Air Force Academy also expressed his anticipation for the mutual cooperation. He said, “Taiwan has a very close scientific exchange relationship with China, Japan and Russia. Like National Cheng Kung University, the U.S. Air Force Academy has been eagerly promoting international corporations, not only to know what is happening in the world but to encourage the growth of knowledge.”

Prof. Chio-Zong Cheng emphasized, “The knowledge NCKU students acquired may be something that the U.S. Air Force Academy students have not learned. Thus student exchange is very important. Once they start learning from one another, working together or even becoming friends, it is extremely helpful to both schools on international development.”

The Director of International Relation Division, Office of International Affairs, NCKU, Dr. Victor Jeng-Chung Chen, looks forward to developing more student exchange programs and academic corporations with universities in the United States as well.
